ZEAL SET TO ENTERTAIN THE YOUTH OF HAMILTON

After backing from both the Hamilton City Council and central Government, Zeal is set to open its third youth centre in New Zealand in Victoria St in Hamilton next year. The $1 million centre will be an afterschool retreat for teenagers between 13 and 18 years of age, providing a number of performance spaces, a recording studio, band rehearsal rooms, exhibition space and a cafe. The focus on art and culture is an alternative approach but one that Brook Turner, the Zeal chief executive, believes strengthens ties between dislocated youth through their creativity. The centre will also offer a number of workshops including barista training and technical filming that will be operated and managed by industry professionals pro bono. Construction is expected to commence during the month of December 2012 with the centre expected to be open by July 2013. Follow it with us at J14969.
