WIND FARMS DELAYED BUT STILL ON THE HORIZON

The $150 million Turitea wind farm has gained approval but is unlikely to be built for at least four years according to Mighty River Power general development manager Mark Trigg. Consent has been granted for a 60 turbine wind farm, though the original plan was for an extra 100. The Whats On Report has been following this project since 2007 along with the Puketoi Ranges Wind Farm in Tararua, also likely to be four years away. When built, the farm will be able to generate up to 180 MW of power at a constant rate during peak times. Follow J86693 for all future developments.
