WHISKEY DISTILLERY MOOTED FOR DUNEDIN

The New Zealand Malt Whiskey Company is currently reviewing two historic sites as potential locations for a distillery in Dunedin; the Dunedin Railway Station on Anzac Avenue and the former Chief Post Office on Princes Drive. Tasmanian-based businessman and investor Greg Ramsay first announced the plans to build a $1.7 million distillery in January 2012; since then, the company has looked into the feasibility of Oamaru and Nelson before selecting Dunedin as their preferred option.  Plans are still tentative, but it is expected that a decision will be made in the New Year.
