Wellington is set to get their petrol station back. The site, on the corner of Bute Street and Vivian Street is just metres away from popular Cuba Street and will be transformed into a Z Energy petrol station before 2012 ends. This is good news for the approximately 20,000+ cars that travel down Vivian Street each day, with the “tier one” station offering full 24 hour petrol, food and coffee services. Resource consent to operate the site as a petrol station again was approved in April 2010, with construction expected to begin on the $4 million development in the coming weeks. Vivian Street is not the only site Z Energy has in mind for Wellington, with a deal recently being struck to rebrand the Caltex at Wellington Airport. Since re-branding from Shell to Z Energy just last year, more than 300 Shell service stations & truck stops across New Zealand have had a makeover.
