WALLPAPER STANDS UP TO QUAKES

Scientists at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Germany have developed a type of wallpaper which they claim can hold brick walls together. The super-strong wallpaper is actually made from flexible glass fibre and while it cannot protect buildings from major structural damage, tests show it to effectively prevent bricks and masonry from falling during quakes. This new technology is still being refined, but is expected to be commercially available later on this year.
