TAURANGA POLICE TO GET NEW HOMEThe demolition of Tauranga’s outdated police station on Monmouth St is nearing completion, with construction of a new $20.8 million state-of-the-art facility to begin shortly. Designed by local-based architectural firm Chow Hill Architects, the 5855sq m police station will contain basement car parking plus two levels of staff offices, meeting rooms, and a public reception. The building is expected to be fully operational by mid 2013, see J78797 for our listing. NZ Police is also planning to replace Rotorua’s police station on Fenton St, with demolition underway presently and construction scheduled to commence later in 2012 (see J112302).
