The new $35 million dollar Defence Force maintenance support squadron facility in Ohakea has been underway since January this year and has recently been awarded a 5-star green rating for its design. The top rating was awarded through the Green Building Council that was established in 2005, and recognises the building for its efficient ventilation and waste water systems as well as the natural material that has been used to absorb sound. This is the first industrial building in New Zealand to be given the top award and is no doubt an example for other industry leaders to follow in the future. The building is on target to be completed by August 2012, with all those involved looking forward to settling into their new green hub. See J102623 for our summary of the project.
