SEISMIC SYSTEM INNOVATION FOR CARTERTON

A new innovative seismic system is being installed in the new $6 million Carterton Events Centre. The new centre which is currently under construction uses a timber system with laminated veneer lumber (LVL) and post tensioned rods to significantly reduce the amount of movement and damage to a building during an earthquake. Invented by University of Canterbury researchers, this is only the second time world-wide the system has been used. WOR has been tracking this project since early planning in 2003, see J38641 for further detail. Need leads on projects like this? Contact Us for more information.
