REVAMP PLANNED FOR TASMAN TOURIST DESTINATION

Plans to redevelop the beachside tourist destination Kaiteriteri (13km north of Motueka) are steadily progressing, with public submissions closed and a first hearing scheduled for May 2012. Wellington’s own Wraight Athfield Landscape Architecture (Wala Landscapes) drew up the draft Kaiteriteri Recreation Reserve Development Plan, which suggests ways to improve tourist facilities and reduce congestion during peak months. The revamp includes extending the cafe, a new administration building and general store, plus walkways around the estuary and car parking moved away from the beachfront.
