RETAIL ON THE REBOUND

 

The retail property market is showing signs that it is on the road to recovery according to a recent study by Bayleys research. In most metropolitan areas, high end retail properties show minor changes in vacancy levels despite low consumer spending, having minimal effect on rentals. Analyst Sarah Davidson said that in a number of regional areas, including Gisborne and Hawke's Bay, vacancies in popular retail locations have provided national brands an opportunity to gain entry and raise rental values.
