PRISON COSTS ADDING UP
Auckland’s newest Prison and the country’s first Public Private Partnership (PPP) prison is set to become one of the most expensive projects around, already costing $21 million before construction has begun on consultants and lawyers fees. Documents sourced from the corrections office suggest the total cost will be $300 million. Three consortiums headed by Australian firms are currently in the running to get the lucrative contract with the 960 bed prison set to open in 2015. For the meaty details, see WOR listing J112810.
