PLANS FOR FORMER PRESS SITE UNVEILED

Since the 22 February 2011 earthquake, Christchurch’s CBD has lost several iconic buildings to demolition, such as the historic Press Building. Australian company Ganellen, who bought the property from Fairfax Media in 2008, have recently unveiled concepts for an ultra-modern six storey office building to be built on the bare site at 32 Cathedral Square. Internationally acclaimed architects Fourfoursixsix hopes that the building’s sculptural design, featuring a series of eight bays twisting upwards, will become a new icon of the Garden City. Although construction will largely depend on the reopening of Christchurch’s CBD, Ganellen are enthusiastic about starting the development by 2013. For further details see WOR listing J135132.
