PARNELL INDOOR POOLS TO REOPEN EARLY

The $16 million restoration and strengthening of Auckland’s Tepid Baths is reportedly a year ahead of schedule, with the possibility of the facility reopening as early as July 2012. Auckland Council closed the Category II listed Historic Place in April 2010 after engineers found the building to have “severe structural issues” and it was estimated to remain shut until 2013. Since then, the Council has overseen a major overhaul of the facility, including a new 25m main pool and smaller learner’s pool plus a gymnasium on a new upper level with windows overlooking the pool. Whats On Report has followed this exciting project since March 2009, see J106693 for further details.
