Planning for future development at the Mystery Creek Events Centre is in full swing, as it aspires to become an events venue heavyweight. Consultants Beca have identified 14 projects in their Masterplan that are to be undertaken over the next 15 years with proposed plans including a new events complex, general building upgrades, a new entrance and central hub, and extensive landscaping and street-scaping. With the recent purchase of adjacent land on Airport Road, additional plans have now been revealed including the possibility of a new 150-room hotel and an education facility. According to Mystery Creek CEO Jon Calder, the existing golf course, winery, restaurants and cafes, plus the airport on the doorstep, make the site an obvious place for a new hotel. In order for this to become a reality, the land will first need to be re-zoned from industrial to commercial, something they are in the process of doing now.  For progress and updates on the Masterplan see J133626 and J141834 for Airport Road.
