MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR STATION FOR EARTHQUAKE-DISPLACED POLICE

The Christchurch Central Police Service will soon have a new multi-million dollar temporary facility in the city’s central business district. The building will act as their operational base for up to six years while the fate of their thirteen-storey Hereford St building is decided. The $20 million single storey complex will accommodate approximately 600 police staff and include a call centre, custody block, meeting rooms, and offices. Construction of the 7350sq m modular facility is expected to start within the next month, with completion anticipated for November 2012. See J137579 for future updates.
