MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR BRIDGE SET TO GO

 

The largest contract in the history of the Whangarei District Council has been given the final approval. The $29 million dollar Lower Hatea Bridge will shortly enter the preliminary construction phase. The contract was awarded to Transfield Services and McConnell Dowell Construction and is expected to be complete by July 2013. The 265-metre bridge will feature a waka prow-shaped lifting section and provide a connection to Pohe Island.
