MANUFACTURING ACTIVITY STALLED

The March BNZ-Business NZ survey performance of manufacturing index (PMI), shows northern areas looking stronger that those in the south Island, but overall manufacturing activity was stalled for the month of March 2011. The survey is the first released since the Christchurch earthquake in February and represents a level of minimal change said Craig Ebert, BNZ senior economist. The results showed strong elements in metal products, machinery and equipment.
