MAJOR PLANS RELEASED TO REVITALIZE BOWENTOWN

A plan by the Northern Tauranga Harbour Recreational Users Forum has been released this month with an ambitious proposal for a 200-berth marina at Bowentown, and a supermarket and retail complex at Waihi Beach, to revitalise the area. The development is expected to take up to 20 years to complete and requires consent from a number of parties, including Department of Conservation, Western Bay of Plenty District Council and Bay of Plenty Regional Council. Consultation with iwi and the public will begin soon. To follow this project, see WOR reference J138145
