LANDSAR BASE PLANNED FOR WANAKA

Plans to build a rescue training facility close to the proposed new Wanaka Police Station (see J97665 for further details) are underway, with site negotiations in progress between charity-based New Zealand Land Search and Rescue (LandSAR) and Department of Conservation (DOC), who own reserve land fronting Ballantyne Road. Anne Salmond of local-based Salmond Architecture Limited has drawn up a preliminary sketch of the facility, which will include a teaching space, meeting room, and storage space. It is expected that resource consent will be submitted once site negotiations have been finalised. For further details on this exciting new Queenstown development, see J143105.
