KIWI BUILDINGS GREENER THAN MOST

 

Auckland’s first six green star-rated building will open its doors next month, The Geyser building on Parnell St. New Zealand’s portfolio of green buildings is expected to grow next year, with several multimillion dollar commercial developments in an early planning phase. A 5226sq m site on Greys Avenue in Auckland Central is being considered for a five green star-rated apartment and hotel building, by developers Jae Ho Huh and Gil Soon Hwang of Dae Ju Housing Co Ltd. Resource consent is expected to be lodged sometime before the end of the year, with construction to follow in 2013 (see J74323 for further details). Plans are also progressing on a five star green-rated office building on Sale Street, which has recently been approved resource consent for over six levels and 6100sq m of lettable floor space (see J92183 for further details). The New Zealand Green Building Council was established in July 2005 and, since then, has certified over 600,000sq m throughout the country.
