‘GO LOCAL’ CONSTRUCTION – THE WAY TO GO

A clause which specifies local contractors on multi-million dollar construction projects is helping stimulate the districts economy on the Kapiti Coast. The New Te Wananga o Raukawa Lifestyle Centre, underway in Otaki is creating $4-5 million of work for district tradespeople. The Paraparaumu Airport owner Sir Noel Robinson also requires local contractors to be used on every tender document for airport projects. Sir Noel’s business plan requires $300-$400 million of capital investment over 15 years and anticipates employment opportunities in excess of 3000 permanent jobs.
