FENDALTON LIBRARY BACK AT LAST

The newly repaired, earthquake strengthened Fendalton Library in Christchurch was fully opened this week for the first time since the February 2011 earthquake. Libraries and Information Unit Manager Carolyn Robertson says the reopening will be good for the community. "The library is an important community hub in the north-west of the city and we're looking forward to welcoming back many of our regular customers and, hopefully, some new ones." The work needed was assessed by Christchurch City Council consultants and carried out by City Care, the council’s construction company. See J139875 and J96899 for similar repairs proposed for libraries in Canterbury for 2013 onwards.
