EARTHQUAKE SHAKES EMPLOYMENT DEMAND

 

The Canterbury Employment & Skills Board estimates that Christchurch will require additional 30,000 workers for the $30 billion earthquake rebuild over the next five to ten years. The board, which has representatives from such organisations as the Canterbury District Health Board, Hewlett Packard and the Ministry of Social Development, will be looking at the best ways to attract and retain both highly skilled individuals and laborers to the region.
