Planning for construction of three considerable developments situated either next to or opposite to each other in Rototuna is nearing completion. Earlier in the month, after resolving contentions over traffic issues, Trig Developments were issued resource consent to build a new mixed-use development that will include apartments, retail stores, offices and restaurants on the corner of Thomas and Horsham Downs Roads. The street frontage is poised to bring the best of alfresco cafe and restaurant dining culture as well as boutique offices and retail outlets with the overall aim of providing residents with a “neighbourhood meeting place for good coffee and good food”, a spokesperson of Trig has stated. The development is expected to be fully completed and operational by the end of 2013, see J137415 for the Whats On listing.

Across the road from this, a new Palmer’s European-style concept store will be built, introducing a new approach to garden centres. With only one other in Albany currently, the 1000 sq m garden centre will include decor, gifts, outside furniture as well as clothing and jewellery retail departments, a children’s playground and a fully licensed cafe. Palmers will also have an in-house team offering full landscape and design services making the store a one-stop-shop for gardening, homeware, and beyond. Construction is expected to be underway within the next fortnight, follow the final stages with us at J130107.

Meanwhile, next door to Palmer’s, Livingstone Building are waiting in the sidelines for the all clear to proceed with construction of a new 100-seat McDonalds restaurant with a drive-thru, McCafe and playland. They expect to be on-site no later than the end of August 2012. Refer to J130384 for Whats On details.
