COUNCIL GIVES THUMBS UP TO LOPDELL HOUSE

A $19millon revamp to Titirangi’s Lopdell House Arts Centre has won backing from Auckland Council. Plans for the heritage arts centre surfaced eight years ago after new earthquake resistance standards came in and the building was found to not meet requirements. Detailed design is underway for the works which include strengthening the frame of the building, construction of a car park and construction of a new art gallery. A prominent feature of the design by Mitchell & Stout Architects is to remove old top floor additions and creating a rooftop terrace. For further information on the works see J63121 and J137343.
