A Draft Central City Plan which sets out how Christchurch will be rebuilt and redeveloped over the next 10 to 20 years has been released for consultation. The $2 billion draft plan highlights the need for a low-rise, resilient, sustainable City Centre. The plan details more than 70 projects including widening the banks of the Avon River and a riverfront park, a new sports hub with an Olympic-size aquatic facility and indoor stadium, inner city housing and a new world-class convention centre. The final date for written comments is Friday 16 September 2011.
