BILLIONS OF DOLLARS OF STRENGTHENING WORKS REQUIRED

 

2012 is set to be a big year for the construction industry with BNZ head of research Stephen Topliss predicting landlords will have to spend billions of dollars upgrading their commercial buildings to earthquake-proof standard. One building in Wellington, The Majestic Centre, J110056 is set to cost between $20 and $50 million dollars to strengthen. School buildings have also come under fire in recent months, with hundreds not up to standard. Marlborough Boys’ have an extensive seismic strengthening project timed for 2012, follow on J126136.
